Letters to bump: 13 weeks to go
Dear Squeaky B,
First things first, where are we up to this week?
Weeks: 27 weeks
Stats: You’re measuring at 14.4 inches and weighing in at 875 grams. Not grown much but still packing on the grams.
Vegetable size: Acorn Squash
It’s been one heck of a week. I’m not even sure where to begin. Let’s start at the beginning…
So earlier in the week your big brother paid a little visit to A&E after a bit of a nasty bump. He was being a proper little gentleman – just like daddy – and trying to open the park gate for a little girl. He pushed too hard, park gate met forehead and ouch. Even though he still denies it completely, he was really brave and got his little cut (more like a small gash to be honest) glued up at the hospital. I can’t help but think of Harry Potter when I look at him and all the costume possibilities…
The next day daddy was out late at a work launch so I went to a Disney-themed quiz with your Auntie Chloe. Two things you should know here – 1. your mummy loves Disney, as I’m sure you will too, and 2. you’ll be seeing a lot of your Auntie Chloe when you arrive.
I think she’s probably the one who’s going to spoil you the most. Second only to your grandmother, of course.
You kept me company all through the quiz with little kicks and nudges, letting me know you were there and listening. Even more so when the music round came on. I think you’ll be up for a little karaoke in no time.
And, just in case you doubted us, we won the quiz. A very nice £50 gift voucher to spend at the pub itself. So we’ve hidden it from your daddy and Uncle Mark so we can have a big celebration when you arrive. With a cheeky drink (finally!) for me. Sorry, Squeaky.
If that wasn’t enough, we saw your Auntie Chloe and Uncle Mark again on the Sunday when we watched England win their match 6 – 1 (I know?!) and then nipped out for a lovely lunch. But the ultimate destination was an ice cream shop called Wallings.
Honestly, Squeaky, we will be returning to this shop. They were queueing out of the door and round the corner to get in and it was well worth the wait. Your daddy and I asked for “two scoops” and we got six.
Even for your mummy, who has the biggest sweet tooth, that was too much ice cream. We both entered what your daddy dubbed a “self-imposed dairy coma” and I will admit I couldn’t finish the whole thing. I think you enjoyed it though.
But did we pick up two tubs to bring back and put in our own freezer? Hell yes. Sorry Squeaky, it’ll be gone by the time you get here.
One of the best parts of the last week for me has been feeling a definite change in your movements. I think I mentioned last week that your movements were becoming less jabby and sharp, and more rolling, and there’s been a definite uptake in that this week.
You’re getting so big now that I can actually feel it when you turn over or change position, or make a smaller movement that usually involves kicking my bladder. And when you do wake up for a little wiggle, those wiggles are so big that my stomach will lift and move along with you. I do feel a little like jelly at the moment, but it’s wonderful to feel you wriggling at all hours of the day.
P.s. I think you’ve flipped and are now upside down. What gave it away is the subtle nudges to the ribs. Cheers for that.
Highlight of the week
Your daddy and I celebrated our anniversary on Thursday this week. It started off with presents at 6:30 in the morning (practicing for when you get here) and then ended with a couple of cocktails (mocktails for me) and a takeaway pizza at home. Simple? Yes, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Plus, you make me way too tired for a big night out.
‘Til next week.
Love, mummy and daddy xx
