Starting anything is hard. Like going to University, getting a new job, going on a date or pocketing the keys to a new house. But do you know what’s even harder? Doing several of those all at once.
I’ve been through some major life changes in the last 12 months. As this first blog post is entitled ‘Fresh Start’, I feel it would greatly defy the point to go into enormous detail about what those changes are. But what do they usually involve? Relationships, family, and property – you’re bang on the money.
But I’m not here to talk about the past. I’m here to talk about the future. And this one evening that changed everything in my mind.
I had been living in my new home for almost 9 months, and only on this hot, sticky and balmy Friday evening did I truly start to feel like I had achieved the Fresh Start I had been craving.
And it didn’t take some huge event like promotion or winning the lottery. All it took was being able to sit on the grass outside my home and cook a mini BBQ. It may not sound like a lot but it was perfect.
I’ve been putting off writing this blog post for two reasons. Firstly, because it meant putting into words just how much this evening meant to me – I may be a copywriter but emotions can sometimes be hard to get down on paper. And secondly, because hitting ‘publish’ involves putting myself out there, and making another large change in my life.
The idea of this blog has been bubbling away in the back of my mind for some time now. I had the title, the idea of what I wanted it to look like, but I was lacking one thing – the confidence.
But that all changed when, on this one faithful evening, sat under the shade of a tree in the warm breeze, when someone said to me “this can be your first blog post!”
That was a turning point for me. It was the moment when I realised that I had people behind me in my corner.
I’m not going to go into a lot of detail, but I really needed that. And it’s done me the world of good.
So this blog post is a way to say thank you for all that. Thank you for the support you give me every day, and the confidence to put myself out here online. Thank you for that one evening where you showed just how much you believe in me, and just how wonderful you are.
And thank you for the delicious food; you make a damn fine BBQ.
Here’s to the future. Of love, life and everything in between.
