Vogue’s 73 questions tag
I’ve always loved to write. I’m not the biggest fan of writing about myself because I don’t think I’m very interesting – but I can’t write a blog without doing that! I’m not the best at being interviewed, but at least this one is virtual.
Thank you to Julia at The Glass of Class for this nomination!
If you haven’t heard of this tag, it’s basically involves passing around the 73 questions that Vogue asks in their celebrity interviews. But way more real and relatable because they come from bloggers.
What’s the best thing that has happen to you this month?
I went to Center Parcs for the first time with the most amazing group of people.
What’s the best thing that has happened to you this year?
Entering my relationship.
What’s the best thing that has happened to you ever?
Meeting the person I am in a relationship with.
What’s your favourite season?
Autumn/Winter. When it’s cold and you can snuggle up in jumpers and scarves.
What’s your favourite holiday?
I go a bit overboard. If I had my own way I would full-on decorate for every different holiday. Halloween and Christmas have to be my favourite.
Would you ever live in a big city?
Does Preston count?! The biggest city I’ve ever lived in was Leeds for university, but I would never be a city centre person like Manchester or London. I’m in Preston for good now.
What’s your favourite ice cream?
Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
It depends on the shoes. And whether or not I can wiggle my long feet into them without undoing the laces.
What’s your favourite dessert?
Sticky toffee pudding with custard. Hands down.
Cake or pie?
That’s an unfair question. If the pie is savoury then definitely cake, but if the pie is sweet like apple or pecan then WHY ARE YOU PUTTING ME IN THIS POSITION?!
What’s your least favourite food?
I’m a rather picky eater, so my list will probably be longer than my arm. Mushrooms, kidney beans, tomatoes… to name a few.
What’s your favourite condiment?
Ketchup. My Twitter bio actually says ‘I put ketchup on everything’.
It’s brunch, what do you eat?
I’ve never been to brunch. But if there’s some breakfast food in front of me I’ll eat it.
What’s your favourite colour?
It changes on a daily basis. Right now it’s mustard yellow because I’m wearing my favourite jumper.
What colour dress did you wear to your prom?
For my high school leaving do I wore a turquoise blue princess dress that made me look like I had been spun around in a candy floss machine. For my college leaving do, I went black, baby.
Blow dry or air dry?
If I air dry it turns into a frizzy mess so I tend to blow dry.
Do you think you’re strong?
I think I’m a lot stronger than I look – both physically and mentally. People often underestimate those whith mental illnesses like depression and anxiety, but these people are often the ones who are the strongest inside.
Who’s a person you’d love to have a coffee with?
I’d love to get together for a coffee with my family right now – not seen them in so long.
When was the last time you cried?
Probably not long ago – I’m a bit of a softie. But I remember almost crying from laughter last night as I tried to dance with the little nugget over tea.
Who’s the last person you texted?
Twitter or Instagram?
I love the visual aspect of Instagram but the algorithm is a blogger’s nightmare right now, so I guess it’s Twitter.
Who should everyone follow right now?
Julie at The Glass of Class who nominated me for this tag.
Have you ever had anything stolen from you?
RIGHT. Settle in for a story. My sister, Ash, knows exactly what I’m talking abut because I still haven’t let this go even though it’s been years. I used to have a silver sparkly butterfly hair clip – tacky, I know. And it disappeared one day. Of course I knew who had it, so I searched her room. I got in trouble with our mum. She yelled at me I *may* have tried to put my sister in a headlock or push her, and I got grounded. Years later, after denying it, my sister admitted she did steal it. To this day my parents still don’t care. They tell me to get over it. To be fair, it is hilarious looking back now.
Favourite country you visited?
Last country you visited?
Belgium! Our first holiday abroad together.
Country you wish to visit?
I believe it was a black rabbit called Thumper.
Favourite Disney animal?
Max from Tangled.
What are you doing tomorrow?
So today is Tuesday 7th November. Tomorrow I’m going to work as per usual, then we’re heading to the cinema in the evening with a few friends to watch the new Thor film. Wild times.
What are you most excited about in life right now?
Getting on with creating the life that I want.
What book are you reading right now?
I’m not really reading anything right now. Life gets in the way!
A book you read because everyone else was reading it?
What are you completely bored of right now?
Coming up against obstacles and negativity.
What’s your favourite beverage?
Am I the only one who hates the word ‘beverage’?! It goes through me *shudder*. Anyway, hot drink I prefer green tea. Cold, I’m fine with water! Wow…
What’s your favourite cocktail?
A Bramble. Hands down.
What would you order at a Mcdonald’s drive-thru?
The same as I always order. Chicken nugget meal with chips and a chocolate milkshake, to dip the chips in, of course.
What’s one thing you still have from your childhood?
I have a lot from my childhood in a memory box. But mostly it’s full of lovely old teddies that are passed on or crappy things I made for my parents that they refuse to get rid of. Love them.
What’s your favourite current TV show?
I’m loving Riverdale right now, but I think my favourite will always be Parks and Rec.
What’s a movie that made you cry?
It’d probably be better to ask me what movie didn’t make me cry. I once got upset at a cinema advert.
What do you miss the most?
My family and Nick.
What’s something you can’t do?
Accents or impressions. I’m absolutely terrible.
What are your nicknames?
I’ve been through a lot of nicknames in my life. But right now my favourite is Maya. The little one used to call me Maya, but now mostly does Megan. It’s a lovely little thing that only we share.
What makes you laugh a lot?
Nick’s hilarious. And he knows it.
Heels or flats?
Flats. But I’m always envious of heels.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
A skydive from 14,000 feet.
What’s one thing you wanted to do but was scared of?
Launching this blog.
What’s the thing you’re most proud of?
Starting over. I’ve been through some pretty tough things in the last couple of years but I am still standing.
What did you want to do with your life at age 5?
God knows – I’ve wanted to do every job under the sun. Probably a ballerina or something.
Dogs or cats?
I love both. I used to be such a dog person because I love their energy, but I’ve come to the point when I’d love a cat to curl up with at night.
What’s the most important thing someone can learn?
To be patient. It’s hard as hell and I still struggle with it but the best things in life are worth waiting for.
Bath or shower?
Shower. I mean, I love baths but showers make me feel productive. I get fidgety when I sit still for too long.
Mountain hideaway or beach house?
What’s your favourite scented candle?
I love the Fresh Cotton by Yankee Candle, but Flamingo Candles does an incredible scent called ‘Thunderstorm’.
If you could spend 3 months anywhere, where would it be?
Probably back in Indonesia.
Are you messy or neat?
I’m naturally a little messy but Nick encourages me to be tidy. I have spurts of tidiness where everything has to go away, but then I can have things on my coffee table for days.
What’s the first thing you do each morning?
What do you have for breakfast?
Erm… See above.
What’s the last thing you do before you go to bed?
Overthink about that tiny embarrassing moment that happened to me 10 years ago.
What’s the one skill you wish you had?
The ability to compartmentalise. I’m a very full-on person and find it difficult to put things aside. If I could learn how to separate emotions that’d be swell.
What’s your favourite pizza?
Pepperoni with stuffed crust. No exceptions.
Describe your ideal man in three words?
Confident, funny, loving.
Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
My old estate agent asking if I had left any post behind. I don’t pretend to live an exciting life!
At what age were you happiest?
I have no idea. Happiness tends to vary and when it’s happening at the moment you can be looking through rose-tinted glasses but when you look back you realise you weren’t happy. All I can tell you is that I’m very happy right now.
What’s the last thing you ate?
A lemon and poppy seed muffin. Omnomnom.
Where do you go when you need to be alone?
I live alone (technically) so I can go to my flat. I have a balcony and can just open the door and watch the water and relax if things get too much. But I’m very guilty of not taking time for myself.
What’s the biggest thing on your mind right now?
What’s the best activity to do at home on a rainy day?
What are you listening to right now?
The ‘Sex With Emily’ podcast.
On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you with life right now?
I don’t like to put a numerical value on things that you can’t really measure – sorry to be a buzzkill. My happiness can go up and down on a sometimes hourly level depending on my mental state. But overall I believe I am on my way to being the happiest I have ever been.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I have no idea. I’ve eaten some weird stuff in my life.
Starter or dessert?
Dessert all the way.
Is there a dessert you don’t like?
Cheesecake. It’s too rich for me that I can’t stand it.
Where is the furthest you have been from home?
And there you have it. Who are my nominations you ask…?
